There are many resources available to help new entrepreneurs with business planning.   Nobody prepares the business owners; however, for navigating and understanding their commercial lease - which is a critical component of any new business.  This is an area that can severely impact the finances of their business.  A bad lease, or a lack of understanding of their lease terms, can sometimes mean the difference between success and failure.

This presentation is intended as a basic overview of commercial leases.  The goal is to help new business owners understand their lease and try to negotiate the best possible terms.  Some of the topics that will be discussed include:

About the presenter

John Ungar, Esquire, has almost 20 years of experience in community economic development. He has provided assistance to businesses by obtaining funding, implementing commercial corridor improvement programs, drafting and negotiating commercial leases and other documents. Most recently, he was the Chief Operating Officer for the  for the Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation (OARC).  Part of his responsibilities included directing all leasing activities for the corporation’s commercial, residential and institutional properties.
